South Donahue and Lem Morrison closures begin today

The intersection of South Donahue Drive at Lem Morrison Drive will be reduced to two lanes today, May 16, through July, according to Facilities Management. The closures will extend underground utilities to the Health Science Sector. Portions of Lem Morrison Drive will also be closed.

“We understand South Donahue experiences a high traffic volume daily, and therefore, we’ve worked extensively with our contractors to develop a plan that will allow the intersection to remain partially open during construction,” said Dan King, associate vice president for Facilities Management. “Our team has worked hard to minimize the impact of this major construction project on the campus community. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we work to bring utilities to the new School of Nursing and the Pharmaceutical Research Building.”

There will be two phases of the project:

Phase I Impact

The intersection of South Donahue Drive at Lem Morrison Drive will be reduced from four to two lanes for north-south traffic. Lem Morrison Drive will be closed from South Donahue Drive to the Auburn University Medical Clinic entrance.

Phase II Impact

The intersection of South Donahue Drive at Lem Morrison Drive will continue to have two lanes open for vehicle traffic. However, the two lanes will transition from the west to the east side of the intersection during Phase II. Lem Morrison Drive will be closed from Woodfield Drive to South Donahue Drive.
