Jackie Cruz, actress known for her role as Flaca in the Netflix series 'Orange is the New Black', is coming to campus Thursday, Sept. 15 as the guest speaker in Foy Hall Auditorium at 6 p.m. to kick-off the University's Hispanic Heritage month.
The Cross-Cultural Center for Excellence will be hosting the event, free to the public, where Cruz will share her story, "CRUZing through Adversity".
Kayla Warner, SGA diversity and multicultural affairs committee chair, said the event will be an exciting opportunity for the Auburn community to hear about cultural diversity from such a recognizable figure.
"One of the things I wanted to get out was that one of the stars of 'Orange is the New Black' is going to be kicking-off Hispanic Heritage month," Warner said. "If you come to that it would be a great experience."
