Tri Sigma welcomes new sisters as they wrap up rush week

Tri Sigma, Auburn University’s newest sorority, just wrapped up their rush week.

The sorority’s registration opened up on August 13th and the next two weeks were full with various activities, meet and greets and interviews for the potential new members to participate in.

Haylee Robinson, a junior at Auburn and a new member of Tri Sigma, said that she is excited to be a part of the new Tri Sigma chapter at Auburn because it is the first chapter in Alabama.

“We had meet and greets in the Student Center where we could go and meet the Tri Sigma’s who are helping colonize our chapter, fellow potential new members and also learn more about Tri Sigma and the process of joining the sorority,” Robinson said. “We also had gatherings in our chapter room to get to know each other.”

Robinson said that some of the activities included a movie night and also a viewing for the closing ceremonies of the Olympics, where she met two of her really good friends in the sorority.

Tri Sigma is partnered with March of Dimes for their main philanthropy and focuses on the themes of empowering women and having value in faith.

“Tri Sigma is a sorority that holds many great values such as wisdom, faith, hope, power and love," said Emory Shaw, a junior at Auburn and also a new member of Tri Sigma. “Tri Sigma strives to develop strong womanly character and holds its women to high standards.”

Shaw said that during the rush week she had made mission kits for March of Dimes, went to small drop-in events that taught her more about the sorority and watched a movie with her potential sisters.

Sarah Dayhood, a sophomore who just rushed Tri Sigma, said that she chose to rush Tri Sigma because she felt it would be an amazing experience to colonize the sorority and to be a founding member.

“I’ve found amazing friendships already through Tri Sigma and their values align with what I believe in,” Dayhood said. “They’re a great group of girls and I’m lucky to have this experience.”

Robinson said that the Tri Sigma’s that are helping colonize the chapter spent a lot of time getting to know them, answering their questions and that they are also some of the sweetest and most caring women she has ever met.

“The newest members of Tri Sigma are amazing,” Robinson said. “We range from freshman to seniors. We have a lot of transfer students that never had the opportunity to rush so it is really cool that they have the opportunity to do so now. I am also extremely excited to have gained over 100 new sisters in my Auburn family.”
