Dunans, Heron shine in Saturday's scrimmages

After a physical practice on Friday, the Auburn basketball team took the floor in the Auburn Arena on Saturday to compete in two scrimmages. Returnees and fresh faces combined to give the Tigers a new look, dynamic offense in the first scrimmages of the fall.

T.J. Dunans led the way for the Tiger offense, scoring in double digits in both games on Saturday. Dunans broke out in game two, scoring 24 points on 10-12 shooting. True freshman and five-star guard Mustapha Heron also added a spark for the Tigers putting up 20 points on 7-10 shooting in the second game. The duo combined for an impressive 58 points over the two scrimmages.

Former Bethune-Cookman standout Laron Smith led team two with 17 points in the second game, and led all Tigers with 11 rebounds on the day.

Redshirt freshman Danjel Purifoy, who missed all of last season due to being academically ineligible, scored 22 points on 8-14 shooting. True freshman point guard Jared Harper added nine assists for the Tigers on the day.

Bruce Pearl and the Tigers will continue fall practices throughout October, before tipping off against Montevallo in an exhibition contest in Auburn Arena on Nov. 4.
