SGA talks student printing and waiting lists

SGA's weekly senate included announcements from Graduate Senator Benjamin Arnberg, Diversity and Multicultural Affairs Committee Chair Kayla Warner, and Bidget and Finance Committee Chair Christopher Smillie.

Chief Information Officer Jim O’Connor was the first to address the senate.

“We’ve been getting a lot of questions about student concerns, particularly student printing…I’ll get those issues researched,” O’Connor said. “I don’t promise it’ll be done by tomorrow afternoon but I’ll be trying to get some feedback for you on the printing issue. If there’s any issue we need to address, any problem we need to talk about, let me know.”

EVP of Programs Hunter Gibson said Homecoming Week was a success.

“We had a great week starting with Hey Day on Wednesday," Gibson said. "We gave out about seven thousand name tags."

Gibson said the SGA student transportation to Mississippi State was also successful.

“The Bodda Getta Bus was on Saturday--huge success," Gibson said. "We caravanned with the football team on the way back…I encourage y’all to do that next year if you’ll be at Auburn.”

Graduate School and Academic Affairs Senator Benjamin Arnberg said changes were coming to the waiting list system for classes.

“We’re going to try and extend wait lists into the semester so that the wait list will continue until the first day of class starts,” Arnberg said. “Then it’ll be free for all.”

Cody Bass, code of laws committee chair, presented a prospective branch-crossing bill for student senate.

“No one person should be able to serve simultaneously in more than one branch of [student] government,” Bass said. “That kind of came about by asking the question of how to make the program more inclusive.”
