Auburn dropped an ugly loss to Georgia last week, and the Tigers have paid for it, but not too dearly.
After sticking at No. 9 in the first two iterations of the College Football Playoff rankings, the Tigers fell to No. 15 in this week's edition.
They sit at No. 16 in the Coaches' Poll and No. 18 in the AP Poll.
Had Auburn not lost to Georgia, the opportunity to move up in the rankings likely would've been there. Last week's No. 2, 3, 4 and 8 teams all lost, and that would've opened up a chance for Auburn to climb closer to the top 4.
