Study Partners, an organization composed of student tutors, is dedicated to helping other students succeed in their classes.
Anna Kate Mock-Jordan, senior in Auburn’s nursing program, has been part of the program for three years, and has loved every second of it.
“Everyone at Auburn seems to have a favorite organization they joined at Auburn," Mock-Jordan said. "Study Partners is that organization to me. I love helping people, it's probably why I'm in nursing. I love how welcoming the tutors are to all the students that come.”
Mock-Jordan has had her fair share of new students to tutor, but when it comes to regular clients, that's where she feels like she helps students the most.
"If we get a regular client it's easier to learn how that student learns and what will best benefit them," Mock-Jordan said. "We aren't there to be their friends, we are there to help them do the best they can.”
The Study Partners desk is located in the library on the second floor and is available upon appointment or drop in. Each session is 50 minutes long, and specific to each student's needs.
"We pick up the students from the waiting area, and after that the session is largely up to the needs of the student," Mock-Jordan said. "We try to make sure that we manage time well while meeting the needs of our clients."
All of the tutors that work for Study Partners are dedicated to helping their classmates succeed and thoroughly enjoy their job. Mock-Jordan said Study Partners always encourages students to come back, even if they think they understand all their material so they can talk it all through and gain a better understanding before their tests
”My favorite part of study partners is the look on the student's face when they finally understand something that they couldn't before coming," Mock-Jordan said. "Their faces light up and you've just given them the confidence they needed."
Mock-Jordan said that students can get the most out of their session by bringing notes, textbooks, practice tests and practice problems.
Study Partners is a service available to all Auburn undergraduate students with their primary goal to help students succeed and make the most of their Auburn experience.
