Auburn gymnastics eighth in first RQS rankings

After posting the highest road score in program history, the Auburn gymnastics team comes in at No. 8 in the first Regional Qualifying Score rankings of the season with a 196.495 average.

Regional Qualifying Scores, or RQS, will be used for the remainder of the season to determine the national rankings. A team's RQS is the its average score in every home meet and its top three away scores. One caveat, though, is the team's highest overall score is not counted in the equation.

RQS will also be used to rank individual scores, with the same criteria as the team rankings.

Oklahoma tops the poll with a 197.595 average, followed by Florida (197.355), Alabama (197.195), Michigan (196.920) and Utah (196.850) in the top five. Rounding out the top 10 is UCLA (196.810), LSU (196.750), Arkansas (196.315) and Georgia (196.310).

The Tigers are also in the top 10 in all four events, ranking seventh on vault (49.185), eighth on bars (49.200), tied for eighth on floor (49.270) and 10th on beam (49.050).

No. 8 Auburn hosts No. 16 Missouri in Auburn Arena on Friday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. CT.
