An Auburn teenager was arrested Saturday on a warrant charging him with attempted murder as an adult, police said.

Police said suspect Anthony Marquez Buchannon, 17, from Auburn, is being held on a $75,000 bond in the Lee County Jail.

The incident occurred on Aug. 31 when the 17-year-old victim rejected Buchannon's "unwanted advances," and was shot by the suspect, according to police.

Buchannon fled the scene after the shooting, and the 17-year-old victim was airlifted to Piedmont Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia, for treatment. She is listed in stable condition, according to police.

Buchannon was arrested several hours later at a residence in Macon County, Alabama. He was taken into custody without incident.
