Police tape surrounds a crime scene.

A robbery occurred near campus in the 100 block of West Magnolia, according to the Auburn Police Division.

Police said a man poked a victim in the back with an unknown object and demanded her wallet at around 1 a.m. on Sunday. 

No weapon was seen, and the suspect fled the area in an unknown direction, according to police. 

The Auburn Police Division said anyone with information related to this incident should report it immediately. 

Auburn University's Department of Campus Safety and Security reminds students of the following:

  • When walking at night, always walk in groups, in well-lit and well-traveled areas. 
  • Avoid using short-cuts that are secluded. 
  • Use the free Auburn Safety app “Friend Walk” feature.
  • The Night Security Shuttle provides rides on campus from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. seven days a week while classes are in session. Dial 334-844-7400 for a ride.
