Halo Salon and Blowout Bar set to open Feb. 26.

Throughout her 12 years of being a stylist, Brittni Culpepper knew she wanted to open a hair salon one day. When her family relocated to Auburn from Columbus, Georgia, she knew she had found her city.

That day came for Culpepper on Jan. 18, 2022, when Halo Salon and Blowout Bar opened their doors to the public in Midtown Auburn.

Halo Salon and Blowout Bar, offers a multitude of services including haircuts, color, hair treatments, extensions, waxing, blowouts, among others with 15 stylists for guests to choose from.

“Halo truly has a great energy where you can tell that clients and stylists are excited to be there,” said Lauren Murdock, junior in accounting. “It’s been really exciting to see Brittni do something she’s passionate about and be able to help other stylists succeed in an industry that’s often challenging."

Opening Halo has provided Culpepper the opportunity to create a work environment for others that she is passionate about.

“I love being able to make people feel good about themselves, let them leave happy and feeling great, and that's my biggest passion,” Culpepper said. “ I just wanted to be so much more than other places, I wanted to be a home [the stylists] can go to."

The salon is open Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The blowout bar feature to the salon is something that the Auburn area did not have before Halo’s opening. The service allows members of the community to experience Halo without getting a cut or color done.

Complete with a mural of angel wings and an accent hair dryer wall and neon sign, Halo’s decor is meant to provide guests with a luxurious experience.

“I just want to say, look at the place. When you look around — that's what sets it aside from everywhere else. It’s class, it’s timeless and it’s clean,” Culpepper said.

It was three years before opening Halo, with no set plans, Culpepper picked out the name for the salon she wanted to own one day in the future.

“The angel wings have always been dear to my heart, I wanted to have them,” Culpepper said. “Before I even knew when I would open the salon, I found Halo and I thought 'wait a minute, it all goes together, Halo, angel wings, auburn angels, our hashtag,' and so we looked at a bunch of other stuff and that was the one that always stuck.”

Halo Salon and Blowout Bar’s grand opening will be on Saturday, Feb. 26 from 12 p.m to 3 p.m. The event will include a basket giveaway that includes hair products, blow dryers and donations from other Midtown businesses. With live music, food and beverages, the grand opening is an opportunity for the Auburn community to experience the new salon.
