A 21-year-old registered sex offender wanted in Georgia on outstanding felony warrants was arrested earlier this week in Phenix City, Alabama, after violating the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA).
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, investigators received a tip from the Alabama Fusion Center on May 4 regarding Terry Huggins III. Authorities said Huggins had outstanding felony warrants in Carroll County, Georgia, for probation violations and additional SORNA violations connected to a 2021 child molestation conviction in Georgia.
Investigators said Huggins was residing in Lee County when members of the Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested him without incident. The arrest took place at a relative's residence in the 100 block of Lee Road 515 in the Phenix City area of Lee County.
Huggins has been charged in Lee County with a state of Alabama SORNA violation for residing or conducting overnight visits at prohibited residence locations involving minors.
Huggins is currently being held at the Lee County Detention Facility on a $10,000 bond while awaiting extradition. Investigators said additional federal SORNA charges are expected.
