After a pop-up rain shower passed through Opelika Friday night, the lights at Bulldog Stadium turned on and fans filled the stands as Opelika High School faced off against Auburn High School. Friday's close game, with Auburn winning with a slim two-point margin, showed why Auburn vs. Opelika is one the state's top rivalries.

Sixteen COVID-19 patients are on ventilators at East Alabama Health hospitals, a number that officials felt wouldn’t be reached after vaccines became available. There are 77 patients hospitalized at EAH for COVID-19, the highest since January 2021.

After reaching a peak of 72 hospitalizations on Aug. 18, both locations of the East Alabama Medical Center have since seen a decrease to a total of 69, according to a press release from East Alabama Health. The peak of 72 is greater than peaks seen in April and July, but falls short of the 92-patient peak in January. There continues to be eight patients on ventilators.

Auburn Area Community Theatre is putting on its first show of the season, ‘End Days’, directed by Andrea Holliday, with opening night scheduled for tomorrow night at 7 p.m at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center.
