Michael Johnson, a first-team All-SEC selection, led the No.8 Auburn men's golf team in the opening round of the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional at Ol' Colony Golf Course on Monday. Johnson fired a 3-under 69 to lead the Tigers, currently sitting at sixth, with two shots off the cutline with a 6-over 294.

Auburn couldn't best Mississippi State in the first game of the Tigers final home stand, falling 4-0 to the No.4 Bulldogs Friday at Plainsman Park. Starter Dakota Hudson (8-3) tossed a complete game shutout for Mississippi State, scattering six hits with six strikeouts on 116 pitches.

The Southeastern Conference announced its annual softball awards Tuesday to honor the top players of the 2016 regular season. Auburn's Kasey Cooper was named Player of the Year, Scholar-Athlete of the Year and is a First Team All-SEC selection. Jade Rhodes was named Second Team All-SEC and SEC All- Defensive along with Cooper and Emily Carosone.
