Auburn University students and community members staged a memorial for Palestinians and others killed during the Israel-Hamas war Monday evening at Toomer’s Corner. The demonstration comes a day after a small protest which ended in a violent altercation and one year after the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack in Israel, which left over 1,000 people dead and hundreds kidnapped by the terrorist organization.

Auburn dropped its eighth straight game to the Bulldogs as Georgia snagged its first SEC victory of the year and 27th straight home win at Sanford Stadium on Saturday afternoon. All season Auburn had been hurt by a collection of turnovers but, it was not the story against the Bulldogs. Instead the inability to capitalize and match Georgia’s offense caused them to fall to 2-4 on the season.

In a game where Auburn leaned heavily on the ground attack, running back Jarquez Hunter was the star. His standout performance was the bright spot in Auburn’s 31-13 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday.

In light of Category 4 Hurricane Helene, Auburn University shut down its campus on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 5:00 p.m. and reopened at 11:00 a.m. the following morning on Friday, Sept. 27. Most university faculty and students braced themselves for a stormy night but woke up the next morning physically unscathed, only dealing with mild rain walking to class.

Self-inflicted wounds continued to hurt Auburn in its most recent loss to No. 5 Georgia 31-13 – the Tigers’ ninth straight loss inside of Sanford Stadium dating back to 2005. It marks the second straight season Auburn starts SEC play 0-3 for the first time since the 1949 and 1950 seasons.

As another Auburn Football season on the Plains begins to finish, game days brought strains to the city’s infrastructure. One such instance was the appearance of long, often slow lines of game day traffic. However, for many of Auburn’s local businesses, this traffic has become surprisingly beneficial, with slower transit and increased foot traffic being surprisingly advantageous for the locals of downtown Auburn.

This Saturday will mark the 129th edition of “The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry”, as Auburn (2-3, 0-2) will travel to Athens to take on No. 5 Georgia (3-1, 1-1) in Auburn’s first road game this season. Georgia leads the series all-time 64-56-8, with the first matchup between the Tigers and Bulldogs being played in 1892 at Atlanta’s Piedmont Park. This game will serve as the SEC Game of the Week as well as Georgia’s annual homecoming game.
