Meet the candidates for College of Business senator, schools council

There are seven students running for business senator and two running for schools council

College of Business senator

Crawford Rummel — Senator

Lowder Than The Rest Ticket — Sophomore in accounting

"If elected Harbert College of Business Senator, I will strive to give you, the student body, a louder voice within the college and also the university as a whole. After serving on the Business Council this past year, I am familiar with serving and representing the College of Business. I plan to make the Business student experience stronger by implementing a system that better informs you about events, deadlines, and other pertinent information. I also plan to expand and upgrade the merchandise store inside Lowder Hall, which will help promote the Harbert College of Business and strengthen its value."

Daniel Calhoun — Senator

Sophomore in marketing and Spanish international trade

"My name is Daniel Calhoun, and I am a sophomore studying Marketing and Spanish-International Trade. Serving Alabama’s top rated business school would be an honor because of its continuous pursuit of excellence, countless involvement opportunities, and multi-faceted approach to the business world. My goal as Senator for the Harbert College of Business would be centralized around the word connection. Linking all of the organizations and opportunities that the College of Business offers to the student body should be a key objective for the office of the senate. I’m looking forward to enhancing student knowledge of all Harbert has to offer."

Jackie Litschewski — Senator

Lowder Than The Rest Ticket — Sophomore in marketing

"After serving in Auburn’s SGA for the past year, I understand that cooperation and collaboration are two of the main keys to success. As your business school senator, I would unify the school’s student body by collaborating each individual opinion into one voice for the advancement of the Harbert College of Business. Through our proposed universal social media platforms, students will be provided with a vehicle of support from the business school’s undergraduates and graduates, providing a stronger sense of community.  Let our voices be strongest as one; our time to impact Harbert has only just begun."

Mary Margaret Turton — Senator

Lowder Than The Rest Ticket —  Sophomore in finance

"Auburn and the Harbert College of Business have given me the education and opportunities that I will build my life on.  I want to give back and serve as a Senator for the College of Business.  My experience in SGA, my willingness to advocate for each student, and my passion for this college and each student’s experience qualifies me for this position.  I plan to support beneficial legislation and advocate for connectivity within the college.  I will do this by creating a platform for students to learn about opportunities and this will serve as a system to hear your suggestions. My overall goal will be to encourage all initiatives that will enrich the daily life of each business student."

Matthew Carroll — Senator

Lowder Than The Rest Ticket — Freshman in marketing

"I would make a great candidate for the position of Senator representing the College of Business because I would do the following if elected: I would advocate for a Freshman program specific to the College of Business that promotes involvement among first year students, I would push for the creation of Social Media pages that keep the Harbert College of Business students updated on upcoming speakers, events, and involvement opportunities, and lastly I would advocate for improved relationships amongst students, teachers, and advisors. I believe I am qualified to serve as a Senator because I have served this past year as a member of Freshman Forum and become more familiar with SGA, and I was a Fall 2017 Dean’s List recipient for the College of Business. Thank you for your consideration, and I am hopeful that you will vote Lowder Than The Rest!"

College of Business schools council

Ally Arthur — President

Senior in marketing

"The College of Business has provided me with unparalleled professional and personal growth, which is why I want to serve as President. I have experience representing the college in Student Council, Senate, and the Dean selection committee. These experiences have equipped me with the knowledge and ability to work towards the tangible goal of unifying our students and faculty. I plan to create events to make students aware of the opportunities the college provides, advocate their desires to faculty, and create mentorships. As President, I want to help students seize the opportunities our college provides, and create opportunities of their own."

William Kelly — President

Lowder Than The Rest Ticket — Junior in finance

"If elected President, I will add value to business students’ degrees by revamping and improving the school store, giving our college stronger brand recognition in the eyes of employers. I would strive to keep students updated on events and due applications within the school via multiple social media platforms, as well as advocate for a freshman leadership program within the College of Business. Our college is the top-rated business school in the state of Alabama;  I believe our students should be aware of every opportunity they’re offered, and that employers should recognize the valuable opportunity they may have to hire a graduate from the Harbert College of Business."

There is no candidate for vice president. The Student Senate will appoint someone to the position.
