Contrary to what the title of this article might suggest, GPA is an important metric. It is most likely the best gauge of academic ability available at present. After all, a biology student with a 4.0 can withstand the rigors of medical school, at least to a greater extent than many of their peers.

Excluding core classes, engineering and liberal arts students at Auburn spend their college years on distinct paths. In a sense, the only commonality between these groups is that they attend the same university. Other than that, however, there is little unity.

Upon coming to Auburn in the fall of 2021, I quickly realized there were no other students around me with walkers. No one else looked, talked or walked like me. I felt out of place on a campus so many describe as "home."

The weather is getting colder, and the leaves are falling. A new holiday season is upon us. As the holidays approach, I reflect on how major holidays feel significantly different as an adult.

You open the door of your grandparents’ house, and the smell of all your favorite dishes sweeps you off your feet. The invisible aromas warm your heart, and the parade of hugs welcomes you. You’ve waited a year for this. It’s finally Thanksgiving.

Throughout your life, your experiences shape you. What you've seen, heard and experienced feels like second nature; but at some point in time we have to decide how to respond to the things we can't relate to.
