A woman was struck by a dark green Toyota 4Runner with an Alabama license plate in front of Arby's on Magnolia Avenue Friday night.
The 35-year-old victim was crossing the road in front of the restaurant at approximately 9:30 p.m. when she was struck by the vehicle.
The driver was a 20-year-old man living in Auburn.
She was flown by Life Saver helicopter to the Columbus Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, according to an Auburn Police Department press release.
"When I came out, she was already laying out in the street," said Michelle Robinson, who works in the Shelby Center. "One of the building managers that works with me told me he thought it was a two car accident because of how hard the impact was."
Amanda Pattillo, a University employee, said she does not feel that area of Magnolia is safe.
"It's so bad lighting by Arby's," said Amanda Pattillo. "I hear sirens every night. I thought maybe it was just another fire drill."
The Auburn Police Department has not released the names of either of the individuals involved in the incident.
