The Walmart Supercenter on South College Street was closed this afternoon after being evacuated because of a bomb threat.
"The only thing I know is the door greeter, Acrochola, just peeked inside and said 'there's a bomb, we need to go outside,'" said Katie Perrault, who works at the salon located inside Walmart.
Auburn Police Captain Tom Stofer said the bomb threat was called in at approximately 1:23 p.m.
"We had law enforcement on the scene, and we searched the building and nothing was found," Stofer said, "and they're back to business as usual."
Walmart employees gathered and waited in the parking lot until approximately 2:40 p.m., when they were allowed to go inside. The store re-opened to customers at 3 p.m.
"Due to extenuating circumstances, we had to close the store," said store manager Mike Davis, who declined to comment further.
Fire Department personnel wearing orange reflector vests were stationed at every entrance into Walmart's parking lot, redirecting backed-up traffic toward South College Street.
Walmart's corporate office was looking into the incident, but had no information as of 3:45 p.m.
