After one hour of deliberation, a 12-member jury unanimously recommended life in prison without the possibility of parole for Courtney Lockhart in connection with the March 4, 2008 death of Auburn University freshman Lauren Burk.

Earlier, the jury unanimously found Lockhart guilty of capital murder, which, under Alabama law, carries either a death sentence or a sentence of life in prison without parole.

The court will reconvene Jan. 28 for a sentencing hearing.
