I meant to write earlier to The Plainsman, after my experiences crossing campus on Hey Day.
I was proudly wearing my name tag, but almost every single person I passed had or put his or her head down, and walked by, refusing to make eye contact.
I am not inclined to say "Hey!" without the visual acknowledgement, so it was a very quiet walk.
And most of those I passed were NOT looking at their phones or music devices. They were just being grumpy it seemed.
I did see two students from the classes I teach, and each of them stopped to converse.
I thought that I might have been in New York City or Rome, but I find the people there friendlier than I did in the Loveliest Village of the Plains on Hey Day here this fall.
