Page Pairings: Sharing sips and stories at Auburn Oil Co. Booksellers

On the evening of July 17, Auburn Oil Co. Booksellers welcomed book lovers and wine connoisseurs alike to its July Page Pairings, a monthly, ticketed event where guests can enjoy a selection of six different wines that each correspond to a selected novel. This month’s event featured special appearances from authors Daco Auffenorde and Lori Roy.

Auburn-Opelika ICE raids lead to arrests of fugitives and detainment of immigrants

Immigration raids occurred at local Auburn-Opelika Mexican restaurants on Tuesday, July 15, following an on-going, joint investigation by federal, state and local agencies; more than 40 immigrants allegedly living in the U.S. illegally were detained. Authorities executed search warrants in relation to a federal indictment of fraud and abuse of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans for 52-year-old Cesar Campos-Reyes, who is now in FBI custody.

Eli Manning helps set world record at Toomer's Corner

On July 8, the Auburn Family joined Eli Manning, retired NFL Quarterback and two-time Super Bowl MVP, on his show Eli's Places in the rolling of Toomer’s Corner with over 3,000 rolls of toilet paper, officially setting a new Guinness World Record. Manning is the host for Eli’s Places, an ESPN+ series that celebrates college football by highlighting college football history and traditions. Auburn’s iconic tradition of rolling Toomer’s Corner after a sports victory is the next college tradition to be featured.

Auburn's Take Back the Night Walk advocates for all victims of sexual violence

On Wednesday, April 23, Auburn University's Generation Action hosted the city’s inaugural Take Back the Night Walk, a long-standing, national movement against sexual and domestic violence. With around 40 protestors, the march began at Toomer’s Corner and ended at the Campus Green, where participants recited poems and survivor stories and received community resources for all victims of violence.

Auburn University student political organizations host Great Debate

On Thursday, April 10 at 6 p.m. in the Haley Center, student representatives from Auburn College Republicans, College Democrats at Auburn University and the Mises Society participated in the annual Great Debate. The discussion centered around current hot topics like the emergence of the Department of Government Efficiency, the United States' role in global affairs and immigration policies.
