Terri Williams-Flournoy comes to Auburn

Auburn has found its replacement for departed coach Nell Fortner.

Auburn announced the hiring of Georgetown's Terri Williams-Flournoy Monday after a month-long search.

Williams-Flournoy led the Hoyas to a 143-104 record in her eight seasons at Georgetown. In her last four seasons, Georgetown was 93-41 and made NCAA Tournament appearances each of the last three seasons.

The Penn State graduate was an assistant coach at Georgetown, Georgia and Missouri State for a combined 12 years before taking over as coach of Georgetown in 2004.

"Coach Williams-Flournoy has achieved success at every level of her basketball career as a player, assistant and head coach," said Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs. "She has an understanding of what it takes to be successful in the Southeastern Conference and brings a tremendous desire to win championships at Auburn."

Williams-Flournoy was an assistant on gold-medal winning Team USA during the World University Games in China during the summer of 2011.

"I am extremely excited for the opportunity to lead the women's basketball program at Auburn," Williams-Flournoy said in an Auburn press release Monday.

Williams-Flournoy will be formally introduced in a press conference at Auburn Arena Tuesday at 5 p.m.
