Football game days are the highlight of the fall semester for many Auburn students, but they can be overwhelming if you've never experienced a game in Jordan-Hare Stadium before. Here are all the ins-and-outs of game day that we wish someone had told us when we were freshmen.

Our first piece of advice would be to follow Auburn Football on Instagram to know what colors to wear to the game. They typically post a color guide sometime in late July or August, which lists the colors of the games, which are orange, blue, white or themed. If you don't have Instagram, you can also visit the Auburn Football website to view the schedule. The program also sends out emails with more information regarding upcoming games.

When you get to the game, you'll need to come prepared. You should always bring your phone, because entry into the student section requires your Tiger ID. You can also use your dining dollars at the concessions stands for snacks and drinks. Not to mention, you'll want to take lots of photos. A power bank is another neccessity, keeping your phone charged throughout the day. Finally, we would suggest bringing a small, clear bag. Jordan-Hare has a clear bag policy, and you will need something to carry your phone, wallet, keys, power bank and anything else you bring.

Another fact to know is game day starts hours before kickoff. Tailgating on campus typically starts mid-morning, even if it's a night game. Tiger Walk is about two hours before game time, and stadium doors open around 2 1/2 hours before kickoff, so you'll want to get to Jordan-Hare a little before that to get in line. The later you arrive, the less seat options available.

The final part of an Auburn football game day is the cheers and traditions. The chants include the classic Auburn fight song as well as some cheerleader-led cheers, such as "Bodda Getta," "Two bits" and "Track 'em Tigers."

Another tradition is whenever there's a kickoff, the whole stadium starts a big "War Eagle." Hold the "War," and then shout "Eagle, Hey!" once the kick is in the air. The final tradition that you will experience is "Swag Surfin'," which plays between the third and fourth quarters. Everyone holds up a four, the lights are turned out and the students join arms and sway to the beat.

The Auburn game day traditions and experiences are what make Auburn so unique. You'll want to soak up every second you can, so come prepared and excited to have an outstanding day.
