UPC is bringing Needtobreathe, Young the Giant and Ben Rector to Auburn's campus for the 2012 spring concert.
"The reason we chose the artists that we chose was because of a survey that we ran during fall semester after the last concert," said Meredith Walkup, UPC graduate assistant.
Students such as Emily Neill, freshman in pre-elementary education could not be happier with UPC's artist choices.
"Needtobreathe and Ben Rector are two of my favorites," she said. "I've been to many of their concerts and I am thrilled to see such amazing artists being invited to Auburn's campus."
UPC worked with its middle agent to contact the artists' agents to see which could perform at the April 25 concert.
"These were three names that were brought up quite a bit and also had the availability at the end of April."
The date was selected according to the Auburn Arena's availability, said Charley Hession, UPC president.
"We have to think about basketball season and other events that are going on at that venue," Hession said.
UPC typically does not bring in more than two artists to perform during the fall or spring concerts, but this year two artists were on tour together, making a third artist open.
"Ben Rector and Needtobreathe are touring together," Walkup said. "Young the Giant is not touring with them, but we were able to have it approved by Needtobreathe's agents that Young the Giant could perform with them."
The concert will start with opener Ben Rector, followed by Young the Giant and Needtobreathe as the closing act.
Dedicated Needtobreathe and Ben Rector fan Jessie Harrison, freshman in chemical engineering, is excited to watch Young the Giant for the first time in concert.
This semester, instead of waiting in line outside the Student Center, students can reserve their tickets online by visiting UPC's website and entering their Ignited Card number.
"We cut (waiting in line) out just because it's really inconvenient for people and we've gotten a lot of complaints from our surveys in the past," Hession said. "It's been something said from our past execs that it was a big goal that we get all tickets through the Auburn website."
The new ticket system will help keep track of how many students attend the concerts by counting the amount of cards swiped as opposed to counting ticket stubs which can get lost or misplaced, Walkup said.
"We can break it down by gender, what their major is and what year they are," Hession said. "It will really help us to know what portion of the student body we're reaching and how to cater to the other students who don't attend the concerts better."
About 2,000 tickets are still available.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the April 25 spring concert, and Ben Rector will take the stage at 7 p.m.
