Men's Basketball: Recent graduate and former Auburn forward Kenny Gabriel will play for the Sacramento Kings in the NBA Summer League.
Football: Senior wide receiver Emory Blake, senior tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen and junior defensive end Corey Lemonier will be the three players accompanying coach Gene Chizik at the SEC Media Days in Hoover July 17-19. Auburn will be on the schedule for Wednesday, July 18.
Men's Golf: Redshirt freshman Jake Mondy won the 99th Virginia State Amateur Championship with a 4-and-2 victory over Buck Brittain in the 36-hole final at the par-72, 7100-yard Bayville Golf Club on Saturday. Blayne Barber lost his match against Julien Brun at the 2012 Palmer Cup on Saturday. Europe took seven of eight matches to win 13.5-10.5 against the USA at The Royal County Down Golf Club in Newcastle, Northern Ireland. The all-time results are 8-7-1 in favor of the United States.
2012 London Olympic Games Qualifying:
Track & Field: Junior sprinter Marcus Rowland finished eighth in the finals of the 200-meter at the 2012 USATF Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore.
Swimming & Diving: Eric Shanteau missed out on a 200-meter breaststroke qualification by one place Friday at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb. Micah Lawrence qualified for the Olympics in the 200-meter breaststroke Saturday. Incoming freshman Jillian Vitarius finished seventh in the 200-meter backstroke final on Sunday. Tyler McGill qualified for the Olympics in the100-meter butterfly on Sunday. A total of 14 swimmers with Auburn ties will compete in the Olympics that will begin July 28.
