It was like he had done it before.
All Stephen Bass, a sophomore from Murfreesboro, Tenn., had to do was make a layup, free throw, three-pointer and a half-court shot in 24 seconds and he would win the Golden Flake Tuition Shootout worth $5,000.
Simple enough.
Bass hit the layup. Hit the free throw. Airballed the first three pointer and clanked the second attempt.
The announcer began counting down from 10, and Bass swished a three right at four seconds.
With time running out, thought on his toes like some type of halftime contest veteran.
He sprinted and launched the ball from half-court toward the opposite goal.
Nothin' but net.
The crowd lost it and Bass, Auburn's new $5,000 man, ran around the arena floor with a smile that stretched across his face.
There was some review from Auburn officials as to whether Bass got the shot off in time, but a spokesman confirmed he won the prize.
