Swimming and diving holds onto the lead

Auburn's Marcelo Chierighini earned two SEC titles Wednesday, Feb. 20, winning the 50-yard freestyle and helping the 200 freestyle relay to a win at the 2013 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships.

The Tigers held onto the team lead through two days by a narrow margin, with 417 points to Florida's 412.5. Georgia won two events to vault into third place with 327, and Tennessee is fourth with 300.5.

The women are currently sitting in seventh place with 263 points.

Marcelo Chierighini recorded the fastest 50-yard free style in the country at 18.92 in the preliminaries Wednesday morning.

Day three of the 2013 SEC Championships will feature competition in the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 free and men's 3-meter diving. Preliminaries get underway at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Texas A&M Student Rec Center.
