Women's golf continues play in Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

The No. 29 women's golf team completed its second day of play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in 18th with a 63-over 631. Marta Sanz led the Tigers on the day with a 3-over 74.

Hosted by South Carolina, the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate is a 54-hole tournament played at the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C. The par 71 course plays at 6,211 yards.

"We continued to struggle," said Head Coach Kim Evans. "We had some large scoring holes early, and it hurt us as a team."

Junior Sanz is tied for 42nd at 11-over 153 following a second round 3-over 74, and junior Diana Fernandez carded a 7-over 78 to be tied for 53rd with a 14-over 156.

Freshman Jamie Yun is 18-over 160 and tied for 64th after a second round 8-over 79. Senior Carlie Yadloczky carded a 14-over 85 to be tied for 71st with an 18-over 160, and sophomore Nicole Quinn is 81st with a 33-over 185 after a 19-over 90 in the second round.

Vanderbilt leads the tournament with a 10-over 578, and LSU is in second with an 11-over 579. Alabama is in third with a 17-over 585, and Arkansas is in fourth with a 23-over 591. North Carolina and Arkansas State are tied for fifth with 26-over 594s.

Individually, LSU's Madelene Sagstrom is in first with a 6-under 136. Arizona State's Noemi Jiminez is in second at 1-under 141, and Vanderbilt's Irina Gabasa is in third with a 1-over 143. A three-way tie for fourth is shared among North Carolina's Casey Grice, Vanderbilt's Kendall Martindale and Arizona State's Dani Ordinez with 2-over 144s.

The final round of play begins Sunday, March 10 with an 8:30 a.m. CT shotgun start. Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
