Auburn baseball loses series to Mississippi State

Auburn baseball was shut out 6-0 Saturday, April 20, losing its series against the No. 10 ranked Mississippi State bulldogs. The Tigers are now 24-16, 6-12 SEC on the season while Mississippi State improved to 32-10, 10-8 SEC.

"(Mississippi State starting pitcher Jacob Lindgren) did an outstanding job. When you get deep into a count, his slider was pretty good," Auburn Head Coach John Pawlowski said. "We stuck out 14 times today. It's disappointing. We talk about the three facets of the game: pitching, offense and defense and I really didn't think we did our best. Early in the game we have to be able to get outs when we can. We have to get better in a lot of different areas."

Mississippi State scored three runs in the third to give them the early 5-0 lead. Auburn starter Will Kendall is now 0-5 on the season and allowed five runs on five hits in just 2.1 innings pitched.

Justin Camp pitched three innings for the Tigers and allowed three hits, no runs and one walk. Mississippi State's Lindgren went eight innings, gave up only five hits and had an impressive 11 strikeouts.

The game was played in front of 14,562 fans as a part of Super Bulldog Weekend on the Mississippi State campus. It was the second-largest crowd in Dudy Noble Field history and the largest Auburn has ever played in front of.

The Tigers will travel to SEC newcomer Missouri for the first time Friday, April 26. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m.
