Auburn defeats Georgia 4-3

The Tigers won their first game against Georgia 4-3 Friday, April 12 after Ryan Tella went 4-for-5 and scored three runs.

A Hunter Kelly double to deep left-center scored the winning run for Auburn as Blake Austin came to home and Auburn took the lead 4-3.

Conner Kendrick recorded seven strikeouts in the win and allowed three runs on seven hits.

Georgia took the early lead in the top of the first after a Jared Walsh double scored Hunter Cole from first base. Auburn tied it up when Ryan Tella scored on a Georgia error after Jordan Ebert singled to right field.

The Bulldogs then scored two in the second, both coming from unearned runs. Curt Powell singled to right field and Daniel Nichols scored to take the 2-1 lead. Cole then hit a single down the left field line and DJ Smith came home to put Georgia up 3-1.

Georgia led until a Cullen Wacker single in the fourth and a sacrifice fly in the sixth tied the game for Auburn. All three runs were scored by Tella.

Auburn plays Georgia tomorrow Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m.
