Baseball game suspended in seventh inning

The baseball game against Mississippi State was postponed because of a large storm in Starkville as the Tigers trailed 6-3 in the seventh inning. The game will resume Friday, April 19 following the 6:30 p.m. game.

The Bulldogs scores two in the sixth to take a 6-3 lead over Auburn after four errors hindered the Tigers.

Auburn began to build an early lead after scoring two in the top of the third inning. Hunter Kelley led off the team with a walk and advanced to third on a single by Mitchell Self. Then Ryan Tella struck out and Self stole second, the ball went high over second base and Kelley scored on the error. The 3-1 lead was quickly lost in the bottom of the inning.

Mississippi State scored three in the bottom of the third to take their first lead of the game 4-3. All of the Bulldogs runs were unearned and one came off an error.

An early single and steal from Tella put him in place to score off of a Cullen Wacker single in the first inning. It put the Tigers up 1-0 early, but a deep left field homerun by Mississippi State's first baseman Wes Rea in the second inning tied the game at 1-1.

The Tigers play Friday, April 19 at 6:30 p.m. and will finish game one of the series following game two.
