In a report by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Tim Hudson is currently working toward finishing his degree at his alma mater of Auburn. The 37-year-old is focusing on his new major of interdisciplinary studies that includes psychology, philanthropy and political science.

Hudson arrived on The Plains in 1996 and played two seasons before being drafted in the sixth round by the Oakland Athletics. He came to Auburn from Chattahoochee Valley Community College his junior year and many of his earned credits did not transfer with him.

Before he was drafted in the spring of 1997, Hudson was 40 hours away from graduating at Auburn with a degree in health promotion, a major that is no longer offered at the University. After meeting with academic advisers this winter, Hudson has a plan to reach his goal.

"It's something to chip away at," Hudson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I'm excited about it. I'm a long ways from getting it, but at least the ball is rolling now. I always talked about it, and I always thought about it. Now it's actually happening."

On Saturday, April 13, Hudson reached 199 wins in the majors against the Nationals and young star Bryce Harper. He is currently enrolled in a government and politics class.
