One day after blowing a late lead against LSU, Clint Meyers recorded the first SEC victory of his Auburn career with a 6-4 victory over the visiting No. 24 Bayou Bengals.
Branndi Melero and Kasey Cooper combined to drive in five of Auburn's six runs, with all three of Cooper's RBIs coming from a fourth inning home run that blew open what was previously a one-run affair.
The Tigers (18-4-1, 1-1 SEC) held that comfortable lead until the fifth inning, when LSU (17-7, 1-1) hit two solo home runs to cut the deficit to just two.
Lexi Davis, the losing pitcher from Friday night's game, contributed two innings of relief work and helped stymie a seventh inning rally from LSU.
Sophomore starting pitcher Marcy Harper recorded the victory for the Tigers despite giving up four earned runs, including three home runs, over five innings.
The Hoover, Ala. Native improved to 9-0 on the season.
Auburn will have the opportunity to take the overall series from the ranked Tigers on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Jane B. Moore Field.
