The stomping of feet, hissing of shakers and echoing shouts of fans resonated through the drumming of music, but the Auburn Tigers were not on the field.
The ladies of Auburn University were on the runway.
Eighteen of Auburn's different Panhellenic sororities gathered together on Wednesday night, Oct. 21 to see their sororities' representative compete in the 2014 Miss Greek Week Pageant.
Jillian Koch, junior in apparel merchandising and Sigma Kappa member, is close friends with Carly Galbraith, the sorority's representative. Koch touched on Galbraith's unique character.
"She's really outgoing and has a different personality," Koch said. "She's not your typical pageant girl, but she's really nice and cares about other people."
The girls supported their representative with posters, sorority t-shirts, colored shakers and lots of cheer. With an atmosphere that shook the room, the contestants shook the stage through the game day wear and evening wear modeling.
Following the modeling, each contestant then answered an onstage question pertaining to a unique aspect of Auburn life or her personal life.
A panel of judges critiqued each lady's performance on stage as well as their on-campus interview from earlier in the day to decide which contestant would be crowned Miss Greek Week 2014.
At the end of the night, the judges came to a consensus to ultimately give Emily Jay from Tri Delta the title of Auburn's 2014 Miss Greek Week.
Faith Woodruff-Blinn, senior in social science secondary education and member of tri delta, was very proud of Jay's performance.
"She's so charismatic and genuine, and you can tell by every move she makes," Woodruff-Blinn said.
Woodruff-Blinn believes that those were some key factors in Jay's success.
"It's just exciting. It was nice to see another award come our way and have our member shine."
