Auburn softball secured its 13th win this season at home against Georgia State on Wednesday, Feb. 18.

The Tigers’ offense had a slow start with only two runs in the first inning, one of which was a home run from Emily Carosone, who would turn around in the second inning with another home run.

“I focused on staying over it and seeing the ball in the middle,” Carosone said. “I guess it paid off.”

The Tigers would go on to bring in nine more runners before the run-rule was called in the fifth. The team has managed to win via mercy rule every game except one against Mercer on Feb. 12.

Heading to Tampa this weekend, Carosone said she is excited to see how the team will play on a different field.

“We’re going to be out of our comfort zone,” Carosone said. “I’m excited to see how we handle not being at Auburn, not going through our own routine.”

Auburn hits the road to Florida tomorrow afternoon to participate in the USF Tournament starting Friday, Feb. 20, at 9:45 am against Dartmouth.

Coach Clint Myers said he is confident his players will perform as the undefeated team that they are.

“I’d like to see everything stay consistent cause we’re moving in the right direction,” Myers said. “That’s the nice thing I see about this ballclub, we have different heroes all the time.”
