Auburn Softball defeated UAB Feb. 6 in the 2015 Plainsman Invite at Jane B. Moore Field.
After waiting for game play after an almost two hour delay, the Tigers started strong with seven runs in the first inning.
Key plays of the game included Haley Fagan's homer un in the first as well as McKenzie Kilpatrick's grand slam to make the game 7-0.
"As soon as it came off the bat, I knew it was gone. I was excited." Kilpatrick said.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Myers switched out the Tigers' pitcher against Troy, Marcy Harper, for sophomore Jenna Abbot, who has a new approach to pitching in her unique wind up.
Abbot finished the game 11-2.
"We've got four pitchers to choose from and they're all pitching pretty well." Myers said.
UAB is the second win under mercy rule for the Tigers this season along with their shutout against Troy Thursday night. With the Tigers' success so far, coach Clint Myers has high hopes.
"We're getting better, we understand what we gotta do and we know how to play, it's just a matter of going out and making the executions everyday." Myers said.
The Tiger's continue this weekend's matches tomorrow against Evansville at 3:30pm in Jane B. Moore Field.
