Auburn softball once again took the victory in their second game of the Tiger Invitational series on Friday, Feb. 13, in Jane B. Moore Field.
The Tigers pushed ahead of Ball State consistently, eventually calling the run-rule at 12-1. In the first inning, the Tigers had a steady scoring drive with Jade Rhodes hitting her first grand slam, making it her fourth homerun this season. The team now has five grand slams overall out of 16 home runs this season.
All four pitchers were put in rotation throughout the game.
"It's about giving everybody opportunities to go out there and perform and let them get their experience...Our pitchers have gone out there and held them..." said head coach Clint Myers.
The Tigers keep an untouched record of 9-0. With all of the team's success Myers said he has no concern with overconfidence being an issue with his players.
"We won't let that happen..." Myers said. "The thing that we talk about all the time is that games are lost, usually not won...we've got to go out there and beat the other person...we've got to play Auburn softball."
The Tigers continue their weekend series Saturday, Feb. 14, in their second match against Mercer.
With the Tiger's crushing defeat Thursday, Feb. 12, 20-8, Mercer has another shot to head home with a win.
"I like our chances." Myers said. "We're gonna go out and get good pitching, play great defense and get timely hitting."
