The Auburn softball team continued its hot start this weekend, improving to 17-1 on their way to winning the University of South Florida Tournament
The Tigers went 4-1 on the weekend, with their first loss of the season coming Friday, a 4-2 loss to Dartmouth.
Auburn took game two of the twin-bill, a 6-2 win over tournament host USF.
Dartmouth showed up again on Saturday, but Auburn came away with the victory in the rematch by a score of 6-3, advancing them to Sunday’s championship game, a rematch with USF.
In the game, the Tigers led 4-0 in the third inning, when Kasey Cooper planted one over the fence with the bases loaded, driving in four runs and putting the Tigers far enough ahead to have the game called due to mercy rule in the fifth inning.
Next up for the Tigers is a four-game home stretch that will kick off with a matchup with Texas State next Thursday.
The following weekend, the Tigers will head to Fullerton, Ca. for a tournament. Southeastern Conference play will begin for Auburn on March 14 in Oxford against Ole Miss.
