Top 5 Miss Homecoming candidates announced

The Top 5 candidates for Miss Homecoming 2015 were announced Wednesday, Sept. 2 at approximately 8 p.m. on Cater Lawn.

The candidates are Taylor Wesley, Callie Barganier, Katie Knell, Tomi Obebe and Sara Bedsole.

Caroline Holmes, SGA's executive director of elections, said the candidates will begin orientation sessions tomorrow, Sept. 3.

"Tomorrow will start their campaign process," Holmes said. "They'll spend the whole month preparing. It will all build up to the week of homecoming where the candidates will get to share their hearts and what they're passionate about."

Taylor Wesley said she couldn't describe her emotions.

"I don't know how I feel," Wesley said. "Is numb a bad word?"

Tomi Obebe said she was impressed with her fellow candidates.

"I can't believe I'm up here with all these amazing people," Obebe said.

Katie Knell said she couldn't believe it when she heard her named called.

"It feels so surreal," Knell said.

Callie Barganier said she was also in shock.

"I'm pinching myself," Barganier said.

Sara Bedsole said she can't wait to begin her campaign.

"I'm extremely excited and honored," Bedsole said.

The candidates will begin their campaigns Sept. 28 and the winner will be announced at the homecoming football game on Oct. 3.
