The Auburn women's tennis team hosted the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships this past weekend, closing out Monday with a singles regional championship title for Andie Dikosavljevic.
The sophomore began her run Saturday by defeating No. 21 Erin Routliffe from Alabama to advance to the main draw quarterfinals. She led Auburn with two Sunday wins to advance to the main draw final on Monday.
"Andie has really turned a corner and raised her game to another level," said coach Lauren Longbotham Meisner. "It shows with her results on the court."
Dikosavljevic defeated No. 83 Georgiana Patrasc of Mississippi State to move on and clinch a finals spot with a victory over Anastasia Rentouli of Mississippi State.
Dikosavljevic became the 2015 Singles Regional Champion Monday morning with a 7-6, 6-4 win over LSU's Jessica Golovin.
"I had a lot of tough matches this week and played a lot of the setters," Dikosavljevic said. "I was able to give it 100 percent and I was really determined to bring out my best tennis in every match, and it paid off."
The win automatically qualifies the sophomore for the USTA/ITA National Indoors at the Billie Jean King Nation Tennis Center in Flushing Meadow, New York.
"Andie's goal was to go to New York," said Longbotham Meisner. "I'm really excited that she earned this win."
