Frying, friends and flopping fish will be in high supply Thursday afternoon, Nov.19, as the Auburn University Young Farmers hosts its first fall catfish fry.
"In the past, the Agriculture department has always had a spring catfish fry," said Auburn University Young Farmers chairman Drew Wendland. "AUYF normally teams up with them for that but this year we thought why not try and host one in the fall too?"
The catfish fry will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Comer Lawn. Tickets are $8 and include a half a pound of catfish, hush puppies, cole slaw, cookies and a drink. Tickets can be bought at the door.
"We plan to start cooking around 9 a.m. so that we can have the food boxed and ready when people come to pick it up," Wendland said.
The proceeds from the fry will benefit the AUYF and help with everything from farm tours to cookouts like this one.
"We use the money to help us better ourselves in the industry going forward," Wendland said.
