The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) of Auburn University joined the Martha Wayles Jefferson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) of Opelika to collect clothing for veterans at the Veterans Administration Facility in Tuskegee.
Linda Shabo, DAR member, directs a collection of clothing that is donated to the hospital in Tuskegee.
After Shabo contacted Linda Shook, the director of OLLI of Auburn, the OLLI members responded to the charitable drive with a donation of 25 bags and three large boxes of clothes and shoes for local veterans.
“So many of our members are veterans, and have a greater appreciation than most for our American soldiers,” Shook said.
According to Shook, this is the third project autumnal project for local OLLI members, in addition to donating 100 pounds of food for the Beat Bama food drive and raising money for children through the Lee County Department of Human Resources.
