Even though the 2015-16 season isn't over, Auburn basketball already knows who some of its 2016-17 nonconference opponents will be.
The Tigers will head to the 2016 Cancun Challenge in November, Triple Crown Sports announced Wednesday.
Auburn will be a part of the Riviera division of the event along with Purdue, Texas Tech and Utah State. The four teams in the Mayan division will be announced later this spring.
Teams in the Riviera division will play at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya on the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico.
Previous champions of the Challenge include Maryland (2015), Northern Iowa (2014), Wisconsin (2013), Wichita State (2012), Illinois (2011), Missouri (2010), Kentucky (2009) and Vanderbilt (2008).
Two of the previous winners of the tournament — Wisconsin in 2014 and Wichita State in 2012 — advanced to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament.
