Carlson shuts down No. 14 Kentucky in 9-0 win

The No. 3 Auburn softball team picked up its 10th shutout of the season Friday night with a 9-0 win in five innings over the No. 14 Kentucky Wildcats in Lexington, Kentucky.

The Tigers (31-4, 7-3) jumped out in front with a 3-0 lead in the first inning, as Jade Rhodes connected on her SEC-leading 12th home run of the year. They added five more in the third inning and capped off the scoring with a final run in the fourth inning.

Kaylee Carlson allowed just two hits in five innings of work, and she needed just 61 pitches to pick up her ninth win of the season.

Auburn will look to claim the series win over the Wildcats Saturday, with the first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
