On Tuesday, August 30th, acclaimed Songwriter John Moreland will return to the Standard Deluxe.
Moreland is a folk singer who has released six full-length albums, his most recent being High on Tulsa Heat.
For Moreland this will be his fourth performance at Standard Deluxe, but the first time since he was featured on the late show with Steven Colbert.
Scott Peek, founder of the Standard Deluxe, has said he would be glad to feature Moreland much more.
“Since he’ started playing here he's gotten representation from larger management, and I told them that whenever he wants to play here he can play here. I’m never going to turn down the opportunity to host him,” Peek said.
Moreland, an Oklahoma native, released High on Tulsa Heat, in 2015.
Pitchfork praised the album for it’s humanity.
“There is plenty of well-worn sentiment and saltiness in his music, but there is also a relatable humanity that makes High on Tulsa Heat worth going back to.”
Moreland has also been praised by publications such as American Songwriter who stated "Those who are not familiar with the Oklahoma City singer/songwriter should remedy that pronto."
Moreland has also had songs featured in the A&E show Sons of Anarchy.
Justin Kinkel-Shuster, lead singer and guitarist for Water Liars, will be opening the show.
Kinkel-Shuster, has fronted the Mississippi based band since 2011, when he and drummer Andrew Bryant recorded their first album on a surprise visit to Bryant's hometown.
Consequences of Sound has compared Water Liars' songwriting to that of Grizzly Bear, Dawes, and Fleet Foxes.
Tickets for the show are $15.
Doors open at 6:00p.m. while the show begins at 7:00p.m.
