A freshman student was found dead in his dorm Sunday afternoon.
Auburn police responded to a 911 call from the student's parents, who said they could not get in touch with him.
When Auburn police and emergency medical services arrived, they discovered the 18-year-old male student deceased in his dorm room.
Lee County Coroner Bill Harris pronounced the student dead at the scene at 3:26 p.m.
His body has been taken to the medical examiner’s office of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death. The investigation is still ongoing by the Lee County Sheriff’s office, the Lee County Coroner’s office and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
The student was not local, according to a release from Harris. No other details will be released at this time pending notification of family.
