Books, Bowls and Blooms event benefits local projects, libraries

A book, flower and ceramics sale this month will benefit local libraries and other community projects.

The event will be Oct. 8 at the Dean Road Recreation Center and will last from 8 a.m. –1 p.m.

The book sale proceeds will benefit the Auburn Public Library and their Summer Reading Program. The program is designed to promote literacy and learning in Auburn.

The flower basket proceeds will go toward the beautification projects in Auburn. The ceramics are hand made by local members of the ceramics studio.

This is the first year the Dean Road Ceramics Studio will participate in the annual event.

The blooms sale will feature fall mums and violas paired with pottery from the ceramics studio, according to a city press release.

“The Books, Bowls and Blooms event is a great way for the Auburn Community to support three great non-profit groups in a one-stop shop,” said Ann Bergman, the public relations specialist for Auburn Parks and Recreation. “These three non-profit groups help enhance the living experience in Auburn.”

The event usually attracts a crowd of around 500–600 people and will hopefully bring in the same amount of crowd at this year’s event since there is no home football game that weekend, Bergman said.

It is hosted by the Friends of the Auburn Public Library, Dean Road Ceramics Studio, and the Auburn Beautification Council.
