Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Le Beau was named SEC Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.
Le Beau made four saves last weekend, including two from point-blank range inside the six-yard box to preserve a 1-0 shutout victory against Missouri. The shutout was Le Beau’s fifth of the season and third in the last five matches.
“I thought our [defensive] backs were outstanding,” head coach Karen Hoppa following Friday night's game. “Sarah [Le Beau] did a great job cleaning up everything behind them and it was led by a tremendous performance by our center backs."
Le Beau has allowed just four goals in five games en route to the team’s best start to SEC play (4-1) since 2007.
