Auburn Global celebrates National Women's Day

Auburn Global hosted an International Women's Day social to celebrate the day.

The event took place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. in Auburn Global's Foy office on Wednesday, March 8.

Auburn Global offered candy to students who came by and asked students to stamp their hand on a display with #BeBoldforChange to show they'll "take a stand to promote gender equality."

There were also videos from the official International Women's Day website playing all day to promote equality and positivity.

Courtney Edwards, Auburn Global's marketing coordinator said the event is a great chance for women of all backgrounds to connect and celebrate together.

“Today’s event is in celebration of International Women’s Day, which is definitely something our office wants to celebrate," Edwards said. "We have a lot of wonderful international women, having a day where we can connect and celebrate that is great.”

Speaking about the event itself, Edwards said it's a chance for women to pledge they'll be bold in their efforts to strive for gender equality.

“We’re encouraging students to stop by, grab some candy, watch some videos that were put out by the International Women’s Association, stamp their hand and put their hand print to show that they’ll be bold for gender equality for women," Edwards said.

Jenna Chambliss, Auburn Global event coordinator, said the social was a chance to celebrate two events for women.

“We were aware that Auburn was celebrating the 125 th anniversary of Auburn women and also today is the day of International Women’s day so we wanted to celebrate and inspire the women, especially our international women here at Auburn Global to stand up and fight for equal rights," Chambliss said.

Chambliss said they’d display the handprints in the office for the rest of the week and plan on making the social an annual event.
